I decided to move to the other side of Koh Samui, Chaweng Beach (the more “touristy” of the two), along with the 5 people out of my last hostel dorm room.
We stayed in Lub D hostel, this was based right on the beach front and three along from Ark Bar the most known beach bar in Chaweng.

This hostel was immaculate, it was more like staying in a hotel resort but just sharing a room. It even had privacy curtains! Although with it being like a resort it felt harder to meet new people.

By this point I was only just starting to eat normal meals. At the previous hostel I lived off pad Thai from the market to save money, but by this point I finally started branching out a bit more trying different chicken dishes (too scared of spices)

We all moved here to experience the more lively side of the island and to some extent the night life. We started the night off by playing drinking games in the hostel which brought back the memories of being at university. Being on a travelling budget it helped a lot with saving money.
We then went out to the Chaweng beach fire show which was incredible to watch although tourists jumping over skipping ropes that are set on fire is a recipe for disaster
Whilst on the beach I randomly got handed a large iguana from a Thai man that wanted a cigarette. This experience broke my heart, seeing the way that animals are mistreated and the animal was clearly sedated. Here’s a picture of me almost crying about it whilst cuddling the iguana and probably catching salmonella…

We ended the night in Green Mango, this can only be described as an actual sweat box, don’t think I’ve ever been so hot in my life. I also don’t think I’ve ever been so well behaved to be in bed by 2am.

At this point it was time to say goodbye to Koh Samui for now, along with Natalie who was off to start an adventure in Hong Kong and the two Canadian boys from day one and experience a different island…
Wow fab.
