Before arriving in Bali I had heard mixed reviews from people I’d met along the way. A lot of people loved Bali and described it as paradise however a few also described it as being far too commercial, full of tourists and just a place thats turned into instagram heaven.
I flew from Siem Reap to Kuala Lumpur and then to Bali. This was a long day starting with a taxi at 5am before the sun had even risen, a 5 hour layover in Kuala Lumpur which was actually such a fun airport and then arriving at my hostel at 10:30pm. This hostel was basic and just a place to stay after a long day of travelling.
The day after I ordered a taxi for one person and a motorbike showed up, this was extremely cheap but also interesting to be on for half an hour with my rucksack on my back. I felt as though I was going to tip off the back every time he accelerated!
I met up with Katie and her friend from home Luke for 3 nights staying in a shared villa. This was amazing after nearly 3 months of hostel bunk beds.

The nice thing about Bali is they have so many nice out of my budget hotels with infinity pools and beautiful views that as long as you’re ordering food or drinks you can use their facilities.

We hired motorbikes our entire time in Uluwatu and this infinity pool was around 30 minutes from our villa. We had decided to visit Uluwatu Temple for the sunset and get tickets for their traditional sunset dance – not knowing what on earth that entailed.
Due to the fact we came straight from a pool we were inappropriately dressed for a temple and got given purple robes which made me resemble Barnie the dinosaur or Violet from Willy wonka.

The dance itself was rather strange but definitely worth going to see. Its impressive how a group of men can make the exact same ticking noise for 45 minutes straight.

After the dance still wearing our bikinis and zero makeup we headed straight to Hatch bar to play beer pong.

The next day we went for the best massage I’ve had so far in the cutest little room, followed by a trip to Dreamland Beach – not the best idea when you’re covered in oil and its 30 degrees!

Of course another day another sunset and we headed to Sunset Point for this one. Sunsets over the sea with a beer make me so happy.

This resulted in a night out after, free beer and shots and one terrible hangover for day three.

One thing I can say about Bali is that the food is incredible and we tried numerous clean buddha bowls and wraps over the four days here.

Another day another beach, this time Thomas Beach. Followed by sunset and then going to see a reggae party on Padang Padang beach!

Staying in a villa was such a refreshing change and I managed to fit in so many sunsets, laughs, beaches and beer into 4 days! Uluwatu was such a fun place with a surfing vibe and many different beautiful beaches. Time to say bye for now to Katie, who I’ll definitely meet up with in the UK before our next adventure starts!
