Krabi – Transfer Port

A 6 hour bumpy ferry and bus journey from Koh Samui to Krabi started the leg of this journey off. The bus is always the cheapest way to travel with it costing the whole of £7.00.

Krabi is well known for being a port or ‘spring board’ used to stay one night, while getting the ferry to the famous islands close by. It offers many different day trips such as Monkey island and snorkelling tours, however I decided against this since I’d seen it all last time.

However Krabi has also become a well established tourist destination and I decided to stay 3 nights in Glur Hostel. This was about a 25-30 minute walk to Ao Nang beach.

From the beach you can watch the most beautiful sunsets.

I rented a motorbike (as usual) and with this managed to find a quiet secret beach for yet again another sunset.

Whilst having the bike I also decided to venture into Krabi Town. I wouldnt advise bothering to visit as there was nothing to see other than a temple.

It is also home to plenty of different evening markets. I visited a Muslim market which served the best fried calamari I’ve ever eaten and then the next day visited a large night market which had a live band and a lot of choice for cheaper food. I opted for a nutella, strawberry and banana pancake.

Ao Nang has one of the busiest nightlifes in Krabi in a place called Central Point which is a small square of bars. The disappointment is real when every bar shuts at 1am.

Overall I’d probably say its worth only staying 2 nights before moving on to some of the fantastic islands only a ferry ride away.
